Upgrades and Windows reinstalls

A faster drive, more memory or a clean start can make an older computer feel new again, and it's often much cheaper than replacing it.

What I can do

Drive (SSD) upgrade

Swapping an old hard drive for an SSD, with everything moved across. Usually the biggest speed boost an older computer can get.

More memory (RAM)

Extra memory fitted and tested, so it copes with more tabs and programs at once.

Windows reinstall

A clean start for a slow or broken system, with your files, photos and email kept.

Moving to a new computer

Your files, email and settings moved from the old computer to the new one, and the new one set up.

Windows 11

Checking whether your computer can run Windows 11, and doing the upgrade if it can.

Gaming PC upgrades

New graphics cards, coolers and power supplies fitted to an existing build.

What it costs

Upgrades are £80 per hour plus the parts, which I price when I quote because parts prices are moving a lot right now. Most upgrades can be done within an hour.

Questions

Is my computer worth upgrading?

Usually, if it's less than about eight years old. If it isn't worth it, I'll tell you and help you choose a replacement instead.

Will I lose anything?

No. Your files are moved across or kept, and I check with you that everything's there before I hand it back.

Can I buy the parts myself?

Yes. If you send me the details first, I can check they'll fit and work with your computer.
